In Savoie, between the Cole of the Croix du Bonhomme, at the gates of the Tarentaise , and Modane, in the heart of the Maurienne, the GR 5 goes through the Vanoise, the oldest of the French National Parks. Its alpine landscapes deserve to be protected "so that the springtimes of the future can bring happiness to your children" (Samivel).
